Monica Powell , 99, Minot, ND died Sunday, June 25, 2023, in a Minot care facility.

Monica was born the daughter of William H. and Ellen Charlotte (Clements) Powell on October 16, 1923, in Ealing, London, England. In 1924 the family emigrated to Canada and in 1946 emigrated to North Dakota.

Monica was focused on her studies throughout her formative years and finished her high school studies at Minnedosa, Manitoba, Canada in 1941. She continued her education at Minot State Teachers College (now Minot State University) and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education. She also studied at the University of Illinois, at Champagne and Urbana. It was her sound education which provided her with a long teaching career, first in North Dakota, then with the Department of Defense at many schools overseas and later in Illinois. A total of 38 years teaching and influencing others in elementary education.

Monica retired to Minot, ND in 1986 and has made it her home since. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and listening to music. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and NEA.

She is survived by her sister-in-Law, Betty Powell, Minot, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harry, Stewart, and Denys. Sisters-in-law: Gladys Powell and Irene Powell.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. July 5, 2023, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Minot.
Visitation will be 10:00 until Noon July 5, 2023, at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
Interment will take place following the service at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
