Obituary

Mona Marie Berke, 95, Victoria, MN and formerly of Minot and Max peacefully passed away June 10, 2013 in a MN hospital.
Mona was born on March 11, 1918 in Minot to Clark and Ella (Bivins) Streeper. She graduated from Max High School in 1935. As a young adult she was employed on the family farm and as a housekeeper in Minot.
Mona married Milan Berke on September 2, 1937 in Bottineau, ND. They made their home on a farm near Max. They were blessed with 6 children. After Milan passed away, Mona moved into Max and later to Minot. Mona moved to Emerald Crest Memory Care in Victoria, MN in April of 2012.
Mona belonged to Our Savior Lutheran Church - Max and its Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Senior Citizens and a charter member of Sunnyslope Homemakers Club. She especially enjoyed traveling, gardening, baking, embroidery, reading, playing cards and bingo.
Mona\'s loving family includes her children: Carole ( Howard) Bickle of Johnson Valley CA, Janet Carlson of Excelsior MN, Marvin (Susan) Berke of Plymouth MN, Mary (Terrance) Williams of Garden Grove CA, Linda (Larry) Peterson of Brooklyn Park, MN and Denise Krebsbach (George Babcock) of Garrison ND. 14 Grand Children, 18 Great Grand Children and 5 Great Great Grand Children. Half brother: Eugene Streeper of Minot, step brother: Ember Sveum of Minot.
Mona was preceded in death by her husband Milan, parents Ella and Even Sveum, Clark Streeper, brother: Claude Streeper, step brothers: Glenard and Kerchief Sveum, son in laws: Quintan Nustad, David Krebsbach and Lowell Carlson. Granddaughters: Ann Marie Krebsbach and Marle (Williams) Lenertz and Debra Nustad.
Visitation: Friday, June 14 from 3-7 pm at the Thomas Funeral Home in Minot and one hour prior to the service in Max.
Celebration of the Life of Mona Berke: Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Max ND. A memorial service celebrating Mona's life was also held in St. James Lutheran Church in Crystal, MN.
Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery rural Max.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Max ND.
