At the time of her marriage she was employed by Charlie St. Croix in the Kaiser/Frazier Auto Dealership. Following the birth of her first child she became a fulltime wife, mother, homemaker and assisted with the operation of the farm. When the youngest of her children started school she accepted employment at the Minot Air Force Base in the Civil Engineering Department. Later, she became a procurement officer in the contracting division of MAFB. She retired in 1972. Harold died on April 24, 1993. Mildred continued to reside on the farm until she moved to Brentmoor in 2005.

Mildred was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church - Minot where she served as a Deacon and Elder of the church.
