Obituary

Mildred Lucille (Okerson) Henne, 84, rural Minot, went home peacefully surrounded by family to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Mildred was born February 26, 1926, to C.G. and Minnie (Erickson) Okerson on the family farm in Malcolm Township of McLean County near Coleharbor, ND.

On July 25, 1948, she married Gottlieb (G.G.) Henne at Bethel Lutheran Church in rural Coleharbor. They lived on a farm near Garrison for one year and then purchased a farm south of Minot, where she spent her lifetime.

Mildred's love of flowers and gardening was well known along with her passion for the world mission field. She was also well known for her Christian hospitality. You never left her table without a sample of her pies and a spiritual word of nourishment for your soul.

Mildred was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot and was active in the Seniors Quilting Group. She taught Sunday School at Saron Lutheran Church, while she was a member there and was a leader of the Freedom 4-H.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Gottlieb "G.G." Henne, Minot, and her five children, Larenda (Paul) Ellertson, Rhonda (Stephen) Zimny, Susan K. (Warren) Schmutzler, Kent (Angela) Henne, Dean (Joan) Henne, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, brother, Clarence (Blanche) Okerson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, son, Brien, grandson, Wade Schmutzler, sisters, Myrtle Hanson, Eleanor Keel, Evelyn Keel, Florence Zwicker, Anna Keel and LaVerne Schumaier and brothers, Ervin and Harold Okerson.

Funeral service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot.
Interment: Saron Lutheran Church Cemetery, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, October 31, 2010, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
