Mildred May Alvstad, 83, Minot, formerly of the Max and Tagus areas, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in a Minot Healthcare Center.
Mildred was born September 18, 1927 at Velva, North Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Bessie (Enger) Rodgers. She was raised on the family farm in Iota Flat Township of Ward County and educated at schools near Max, before graduating from Max High School in 1946.
Mildred attended Minot State Teachers College for one year and was united in marriage to Elmer Alvstad on July 10, 1949 at Minot. They made their home on a farm in Ree Township of Ward County near Tagus until 1988, when they moved to Minot.
Mildred was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church at Coulee and was active with the ladies aid group until the church closed. They had attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. She was active with the Frisky Fifteen Homemaker's Club near Tagus and was a former member of the Minot Moose Lodge. Mildred enjoyed baking, gardening, playing bingo, whist and pinochle.
Her loving family includes : husband of 61 years, Elmer, Minot; sister-in-law, Mary Rodgers, Minot; brother-in-law, Larry Schmidt, Minot; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Florence and her husbands, Walter Frank & Otto Sweitzer, Marie Schmidt, & Eva Shervold and her husband, Ing; brothers, Harold Rodgers and an infant, Norman Rodgers; nephew, Wally Frank.
Funeral service
: Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Friday from 4:00-7:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
