Michael "Mike" Dean Brown, 65, Berthold, died Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his son's home in Berthold surrounded by his loving family and hospice.

Mike was born August 7, 1950 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot, the son of Ralph "Chub" and Marlayne (Porter) Brown. He was raised and educated at Berthold and graduated from Berthold High School in 1968. He attended Minot State College for a short time before entering into active duty with the U.S. Army and honorably serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1970-1971.

Mike was once married to Jeanie Bohrer. From this union two children were born, Bill and LeAnn. He was employed in Berthold by his father, at Brown's Service, selling tires for a number of years until venturing out on his own, forming Brown Tire Company in Berthold. He also owned the Palermo Bar for a number of years. Mike was once married to Nancy Hedberg.

Mike was once a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Berthold, and served as an altar boy in his younger years. He loved going to auctions to purchase and sell items. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially during deer season. He loved playing with and teasing his grandchildren, attending smokers, camping with the grandkids or anyone who would spend some time outdoors or the changing scenery of the seasons. He always had a good story to tell. Mike was well respected in the community and never backed down from his beliefs. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.

His loving family includes children, Bill (Ashley) Brown, Berthold; LeAnn (Chris) Baumann, Berthold; grandchildren: Laney "Louie" Brown, Ella "Elmer" Brown and Dean "Big Guy" Brown and Ace "Amy" Baumann; siblings: Barbara (Paul) Zuther, Harvey, Ralph Jr. (Marlene) Brown, Ray, ND, Maylynn (Knute) Asmundson, Granville, Gene (Patricia) Brown, Ross, ND, Daniel Brown, Seattle, WA, Patricia Olson, Palermo, ND, Diane (Rick) Odegard, Grand Forks, ND, Sue (Tim) Thoreson, Williston, ND, Tim Brown and his friend, Robin, Powers Lake, ND; special friend, Jeanne Brostrom, San Dimas, California; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, William "Billy" Brown

Celebration of Life service : Saturday January 16, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Berthold American Legion Hall.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot later in the spring.
Visitation : At his request, there will be no public reviewal, however friends may sign the memorial register book Friday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the family.
