Michelle Marie Opland, 56, Rural Des Lacs and formerly of Minot died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in her home.

Michelle was born on May 19, 1956 in Minot to Mike and Nancy (Fleming) Hady. She was reared in Minot attended Little Flower Elementary School and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School.

Michelle married Reed Opland on January 6, 1973 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot. They have made their home on a farm in Rolling Green Township of Ward County, south of Des Lacs, for the past 40 years. She loved everything about life on the farm and being a fulltime wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Michelle was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Foxholm where she taught CCD. She served as Rolling Green Township Secretary, was a member of an area homemakers group and was an active participant in Des Lacs - Burlington school activities. She especially enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Michelle's loving family includes her husband of 40 years Reed; children: Michael (Nicole) and their child Annie of Des Lacs, Patrick (Melissa) of Burlington, Benjamin (Heather) and their children Leya, Charlie, and Audrey of Des Lacs, Nancy (Lee) Myklebust of Starkweather, Jefferson and John both at home; parents: Mike and Nancy Hady of Minot; siblings: Robin (Tim) Anderson of Starkweather and Kelly Hady of El Paso TX; mother-in-law: Catherine Opland of Des Moines WA; sisters-in-law: Rose Opland of Auburn WA, Lorene Yurak of Lake Taps WA and Karla Grogan of Des Moines, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michelle was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Walter Opland.

Mass of Christian Burial : Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service : Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John.
Graveside Service : Monday at 4:00 p.m. in Rose Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery - rural Des Lacs.
Visitation : There will be no reviewal, but friends and family may sign a memorial register on Sunday from noon until 3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot and from 5:00 p.m. until the prayer service time at the church.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of plants and flowers.
