Michael Andrew "Mike" Zietz, 52, Minot, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in his home.

Mike was born November 15, 1960 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Eugene and JoAnn (Pugh) Zietz. He was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High school in 1979. Mike met the love of his life and soul mate, Susan Swenson at work. They were married on January 13, 1999 in Las Vegas, NV. Mike was once married to Maria Schiff, with whom they shared three beautiful children. Susan shared in the joy of Michael, Megan, and Miles and helped raise them throughout the years.

During his younger years, Mike was employed at Wilhelm\'s Auto House and then began working for Fisher Motor Company in 1978. He held different positions for the different owners throughout the years, working his way up from the parts department, to parts manager, to the current general service manager under the ownership of Ryan GMC. He was awarded the Minot Chamber of Commerce Eagle Award for excellent customer service in 2011.

Mike was not only a boss to his co-workers, but also a good friend to them. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with his sons and brothers on hunting trips. He recently bagged the once in a lifetime elk and shared that experience with his two sons, Michael and Miles. Some of his favorite memories were also made around the campfire during many camping trips with his daughter, Megan and son-in-law, Chase. He loved spending time on the water as much as possible, either fishing or joy riding with his grandchildren.

Mike loved and cherished his children. He was extremely proud of all of them and the fine adults that each had become. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather and a cherished friend to all who knew him.

His loving family includes, wife, Susan Zietz, Minot; children, Michael (Kaia) Zietz, Bismarck, Megan (Chase) Getchell, Velva, Miles Zietz and special friend, Jeannie, Minot; grandchildren, Cadence & Brayden Zietz, Emersyn and Talen Getchell; father, Eugene Zietz, Minot; sibilings, Katherine Holmes, Shoreview, MN, Gordon (Candy) Zietz, Garrison, Kevin (Judy) Zietz, Rugby, ND, Bruce (Colette) Zietz, Bemidji, MN, Danny (Danelle) Zietz, Minot, Dennis (LuAnn) Zietz, Stanley, ND, Tomie (Tina) Zietz, Kenmare, ND, Susan (Brian) George, Minot, Jamie (Lisa) Zietz, Minot, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn and infant brother, Eugene Jr.

Celebration of Life service : Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark\'s Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation : Friday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials be designated to an organization of the donor's choice.
