Obituary

Melvin Ehr, 74, lifelong Minot resident, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in his son's residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mel was born July 22, 1937 at Minot, the son of Frank and Gunhild (Gustafson) Ehr. He was raised and educated at Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1955. He attended Minot State University and graduated there in 1961 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Math and Science with a minor in Russian.

Mel was united in marriage to Margo Kenner on June 6, 1962 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND. They made their home in Minot, where Melvin was employed with Atlas Ready Mix as office manager, Ernie's Concrete and later Craft Builders until retiring in 1999.

Mel enjoyed his special interests and hobbies especially following the Minnesota Twins and he rarely missed watching the Vikings. He also spent many days and weekends at the "MillionEhr" cabin at Rice Lake.

He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Margo of Minot, son, Jim (Adair) Ehr, Minot, daughter, Heidi Ehr and her companion, Jerry Lindlauf, of Eagan, MN; grandchildren Dustin (Cindy) & Chase Ehr; step-grandchildren, Courtney, Dominic & Deven Mantz; sisters, Darlene (Dean) Melius, Minot and Elaine (David) Almy, Minot; several nieces and nephews.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Dennis Almy.

No formal services will be held, but a gathering of family and friends in his honor will take place Friday, September 30, 2011 from 5 9 p.m. in Michaels Restaurant, Minot.
