Maybelle Caroline "Babe" Lawson , 90, Rural Minot died on Thursday, February 26, 2009 in a Minot hospital.

Maybelle was born on June 18, 1918 in Lowland Township of Mountrail County near Coulee, ND to Elmer and Carrie (Nott) Ott. She was reared on the family farm in Lowland Township and then on a farm in Afton Township of Ward County near Minot where the family moved in 1932. She was educated in rural schools.

Maybelle married Iver Lawson on January 15, 1936 in Minot. They made their home on a farm in Afton Township of Ward County where they raised small grains and dairy cattle Also, Babe was employed at Alm's Dairy Store and the Walsh Motel. Iver died on April 4, 1987.

Babe was a lifelong member of Saron Lutheran Church where she was Superintendant of the Sunday School and President of the Ladies Aide. She was a member of the Afton Homemakers Group, Women of the Moose, African Violet Club and TOPS. She especially enjoyed embroidery, quilting and gardening.

Babe's loving family includes her children: Gerald "Jerry" (Janet) Lawson of Minot, Donna Ostendorf of Long Prairie MN, Iver Jr. (Darlene) Lawson of Blaine WA and Reita (Larry) Driskell of Muscatine Iowa; grandchildren: Scott, Brent (Karen), Cari, Kevin (Tracey) and Lindsay Lawson; Thad (Elizabeth) Driskell; Wendi (Scott) Meerdink and Allison (Bill) Wood; great grandchildren: Kallie Jo, Melissa, Siri, Aizia, Blayde, Dustin and Ashley Lawson; Carolyn and James Driskell; and Gavin and Quintin Meerdink and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Babe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Willis Ott, sisters: Dorothy Bredahl and Fern Miller and sons -in-law: Donald Boyko and Vernon Ostendorf.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
