Maxine Marilyn Schwartz, 89, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 in a Minot Hospital.
Maxine was born May 27, 1924 on the family farm near Kenmare, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Alice (Nash) Modin. She was raised and educated near Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1942. She taught at country schools in the Mandan area.
Maxine was united in marriage to J. Ralph Schwartz on February 16, 1945 at Havre, Montana. They lived on a farm north of Kenmare from 1945-1947. They moved to Minot in 1955, where they owned the
Speedway Motel for nine years. Maxine worked as a receptionist, most recently at Miracle Ear, retiring two years ago. She also taught cake decorating classes and she was known for her unique wedding, birthday, and special occasion cakes.
Maxine was a woman of great faith and integrity. She was an active member of First Assembly of God Church, Minot, where she sang in the Choir, taught Sunday School, and served as Sunday School
Superintendent. She enjoyed crocheting, china painting, cooking, traveling, playing games, and was an avid reader. Maxine had the gift of hospitality. She was always warm, friendly, and caring. She loved all people.

, children, Linda (Chris) Pettersen, Minot, Doug Schwartz, Mohall, Debra (Alan) Schafer, Minot; daughter in law, Cindy Schwartz, Rugby; grandchildren, Christel (Paul) Laskowski, Kimberly (Brian) VanWinkle, Alicia (Sanders) Shumway, Katherine (Kyle) Spivey, Thomas Schwartz, Shawn Schafer and Eric (Krista) Schafer; great grandchildren, Preston, Kellen, Evan, Elise, Emily, Liberty, Hudson, Kage and Jezy; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Perry, sisters, Pearl, Marjorie and Margaret; brothers, Leonard, Donald, Merle and Kenneth
Funeral service
: Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation
: Friday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Child Evangelism Fellowship or Minot Youth For Christ.
