Obituary

Max Arthur Lozenksy, 91, Velva, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 in a Velva Nursing Care Center.

Max was born December 12, 1920 on the family farm in Gasman Township of Ward County, North Dakota, the son of Arthur and Mary (Kabanuk) Lozensky. He was raised and educated at Gasman Township and graduated from Max High School in 1938. Max entered into active duty service with the U.S Army in 1942 and served as a medic during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1945 and returned to North Dakota.

Max was united in marriage to Velma Coons on December 10, 1949 at Minot. They lived on a farm south of Minot for several years, before moving into Minot in 1957. Throughout the years, Max farmed the homestead south of Minot, was employed by Trinity Hospital and at the USAF John Moses Hospital as a nursing assistant on the surgical ward and later on the OB ward. He retired in 1983. Max entered the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva in 2003. Velma died November 3, 2004.

Max was a member of the Minot American Legion and Seventh-day Adventist Church, Minot. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

His loving family includes, children, Dennis Lozensky, Minot, Vicky Mernone, Tacoma, WA, Valerie Lozensky, Vancouver, WA, Stewart (Heidi) Lozensky, Union, KY, Vanna (Robert) Fisk, Bennett, CO; twelve grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Max was preceded in death by his wife, Velma "Susan", parents, Arthur and Mary, daughter, Mary Lozensky, son, Stanley Lozensky and brothers, Pete, John, Art Jr., and Steve Lozensky.

Funeral service: Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Minot.
Interment: Gasman Township Cemetery, Rural Max, ND.
Visitation: Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Minot.
