Mavis was born February 7, 1941, in Seaside, OR to Thorvald and Agnes (Risovi) Erickson. She grew up in North Dakota and was educated in the community of Maddock.

Mavis was a member of First Lutheran Church, Eagles, Elks and Moose Auxiliaries.

In retirement, Mavis enjoyed reading and cooking with recipe books, growing tomatoes which were a particular favorite of Mr. Ambers, and adorning her homefront in bright pink mandevillas which became the talk of the town every Spring and Summer they would bloom. Mavis would spend long summertide hours relaxing with Elmer at their lake home on Parshall Bay of Lake Sakakawea. She will be remembered for the golden heart she posessed and her caring, fun personality.
