Obituary

Maureen Gwen 'Mo' Parrish, 65, rural Surrey, and formerly of Minot, died Friday, September 7, 2007 in a Fargo Hospital.

Maureen was born February 20, 1942 at Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Gwendolyn (Harger) Matthews. She was raised and educated at Omaha and graduated from High School there in 1960 and received her bachelor of arts degree in education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Maureen was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Parrish on June 12, 1965 at Omaha. They made their home at various places throughout the United States, while Dick was serving in the US Air Force. Maureen had been employed as a substitute teacher in Omaha, worked for the State of Arkansas Extension Service and after moving to Minot in 1979, was employed for the Little People Learning Center at All Saints Episcopal Church. For the past fifteen years, she worked part time with the staff of Weight Watchers in Minot.

Maureen was active in a number of organizations in the communities she lived in including; the Ft. Stevenson Foundation, Ft. McKeen Detachment Old Scouts Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and P.E.O Sisterhood, Chapter A.G.

She was also active at the All Saints Episcopal Church, Minot and enjoyed participating in living history demonstrations throughout North Dakota. She was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader and had also served as a youth group leader at churches in the communities she lived in.

Her loving family includes : husband of 42 years, Dick Parrish, Surrey; Daughter: Mahli (Jason) Blowers, Minot; Son: Mark Parrish and his fiancée, Jodie of Sioux Falls, SD; Grandchildren: Hannah Nicole Arne, Dodge Allen Arne, Keaton Charles Parrish, Timothy Jordan Blowers, and Aaron Nathanael Blowers; Brother: Stephen Matthews and his fiancée, Nancy, McKinney, TX, and father-in-law: Jack Parrish, Sykesville, MD.

Funeral service : Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church, Minot.
Interment
: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation
: Wednesday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to All Saints Episcopal Church, Minot or the ND Militia Foundation.
