Obituary

Matthew Rovig, 37, Berthold and Wahpeton, died Monday, October 8, 2018 at home in Berthold.

Matthew was born June 15, 1981 in Minot. He joined Myron and Carol (Heller) Rovig, his forever family at a year and a half and was adopted at age three. He attended school in Berthold and was a graduate of Berthold High School in 1999. He was a licensed and certified scuba diver and enjoyed spending time with a fishing pole in his hand.

Matthew was once united in marriage to Yvette Francis on March 18, 2002. They resided in Hawaii while in service to their country. He was a licensed and certified scuba diver and enjoyed spending time with a fishing pole in his hand.

Matthew was blessed with talented hands and a mechanical mind. He held various positions in the Red River Valley of North Dakota serving as a key member of the maintenance teams for the MinDak Sugar Beet Plant and SunOpta Seed Plant of Wahpeton. He also worked at Bobcat in Wahpeton and enjoyed working in the livestock  sales ring in Fargo.

Matthew was united in marriage to Mystical Struthers on February 14, 2012. They made their home on a farm in Wahpeton. He loved raising animals. Cattle, horses, chickens, dogs and cats all found a home on the Rovig farm.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold, where he was baptized and confirmed. Matthew was often found four wheeling or on a sled racing across the prairie in the winter snow. He was a devoted father, loved for his silly manner, who loved others unconditionally. He will be missed by who loved him as a son, father, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Matthew is survived by his wife Mystical Rovig, Breckenridge, MN; daughters, Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Rovig, Jacksonville, FL, Aubrey Rovig and Shayla Rensvold, both of Breckenridge, MN and Brittany Haning, Mandan, ND; parents, Carol and Myron Rovig, Berthold, ND; brothers, Kendall Rovig, Wahpeton, ND and Chad (Terri) Rovig, Parker, CO; biological brothers: Larry Olson, Ralph Bakke and Allen Schimmel; foster brother, Zoda Morgan; foster sister, Alicia Hanson, Minot; grandmother, Edna Rovig, Lake Spivey, GA; uncle Marvin (Sandy) Heller and cousin Marcie; aunts, Gloria (Jack) Steinhauer and cousin Rachelle, Eilene (Mike) Marsh and cousin Nikkole, Larry Rude and cousin Brian, Tim and Loren, Gloria (Gary) Fjeld and cousins Beth, Lisa, Eric; nieces, Mystika, Candace, Alison, Kayla, and Kjersti; nephews, Britt, Connor and Cayden; second cousins, Cassidy, Kayleigh, Zachary, Rylan, Brandi, Benjamin, Greyson and Aurora along with many extended family and friends.

Matthew was preceded in death by his infant brother, Tory Rovig, sister, Tara Rovig, grandparents, Harold and Olga Heller and Merle Rovig; sisters-in-law, Pam Rovig and Lynn Rovig; brother-in-law, Adam Davis; nieces, Caitlynn and Callyn Rovig and aunt, Merna Rude.

Service of Honor for Matthew: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, ND.
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold at a later date.
Visitation: Friday, October 12, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
