Mary Ann Widmayer, 87, Minot, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in a Minot hospital.
Mary Ann was born on September 9, 1929 in Minot, ND to Adolph and Myrtle (Anderson) Stokke. She was raised and educated in Granville, graduating from Granville High School in 1947. She then attended Minot Business College and worked for Northern States Power in Minot.
Mary Ann was united in marriage to Vernon Widmayer on November 25, 1950 in Granville. They made their home in Minot and following a short time in Indiana returned to their lifelong community in 1954. Their union was blessed with three children. In addition to her responsibilities as a mother and wife, Mary Ann kept the books for her husband's television repair business, CV-TV. She sold Avon for many years and trained her green thumb by assisting the Green Thumb Greenhouse during the Spring/Summer season. For the last seventeen years, Mary Ann was able to live at home with her daughter, Diane, who cared for her until her time of death.
Mary Ann enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and camping. She also enjoyed bowling and league pool, capturing a league title while in her 60's. She enjoyed making lefse, buns, and potato salad for her family and friends. She adored her granddaughter and great-grandchildren cherishing time with them while attending their activities. Among her favorites was the time spent playing cards with her granddaughter. Over the last few years, watching FOX News is what entertained her most. Staying current with the news and being with family is what mattered most to her. We will all miss the love and care she provided to her family.
Mary Ann's loving family includes her children: Diane Widmayer, Denise Kallestad and Alan Widmayer, all of Minot; granddaughter: Amber (Branden) Stephenson; great-grandchildren: Kambrya, Tayven and Cashton Stephenson; sister: Arlene Shipman, Minot and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers: Donald and Andrew Stokke.
