Mary Margaret (Thurow) Steen , 66, Minot and formerly of Williston, ND, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in her home.

Mary Margaret Thurow was born March 28, 1955, in Williston, ND, the first born daughter of LaVerne and Shirley (Knutson) Thurow, named after her two grandmothers, Mary and Margaret. She was raised and educated in Williston, ND, graduating in 1973.

Mary was once united in marriage to Lloyd Edwards. They made their home in Williston and had three sons, Kurt, Chad and Anthony 'Tony.'

In the late 1980's, Mary met Gordon Gullickson. This union was blessed with three children, Lynette, Justin and Christa. They never married but remained friends until his passing in 2012.

Mary was once married to Rickey Steen.

Mary called Minot home for the last 30 years, where she loved being a mother and even more a grandma. She enjoyed talking with family and friends, sharing stories, going to the thrift store to shop, crocheting and watching professional wrestling with her grandson Gianni. Mary found companionship with her friend Wade Picotte. She felt blessed to have him in her life in addition to her forever feline friend, Toby.

Mary is survived by her children Kurt Edwards, Sioux Falls, SD, Chad (Sasha) Edwards, Dickinson, ND, Anthony (April) Kessel, Roswell, NM, Lynette (Allen) DeLano, Berthold, ND, Justin Edwards, Minot and Christa (Dominic) Pecoraro, Minot; grandchildren Chase and Tyler, Isabela, Ana, and Ava, Seth, Avery, Aubrey, Tommy and Clinton, Mayson, Dallas, Hayden, Layla, Peyton, Lilly, Colter and Isaiah and Adriana and Gianni; siblings Barbara Leonard, Frank Thurow, Thomas Thurow, Tina Thurow, Cheryl Nelson and Stacia Stauter along with numerous nieces, nephews and companion Wade Picotte.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Shirley Thurow, grandparents Thomas R and Margaret 'Peggy' Knutson, great-grandparents Mary and Samuel Thurow and Leona Thurow-Arndt and longtime companion Gordon Gullickson.

Celebration of Life for Mary Steen :  1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.
