Mary Elizabeth Neustel, 89, Minot, and formerly of the Robinson, ND area, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Mary was born October 25, 1922 in Kidder County, near Robinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Lonnie and Myrtle (Martz) Wichael. She was raised and educated at country schools near Robinson and graduated from Pettibone High School in 1940.

Mary was united in marriage to Howard Neustel on May 16, 1947 at Steele, ND. They made their home on a farm near Robinson from 1947-1959, before moving to Steele in 1959, where they lived for several years, while Howard worked with BEK Telephone CO. They moved to Tuttle in 1965, where Mary was also employed as the City Assessor & Auditor for the Wing-Tuttle community for more than 22 years. She retired in 1996. They moved to Minot in 1998 to live nearer their daughter and her family. Howard died March 22, 2003. She moved into Trinity Homes in April of this year.

Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church of Robinson and had served as a volunteer in a number of capacities within the Church. She enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Many commented on her beautiful gardens while she lived at Tuttle and Minot. She was well know for canning her vegetables, jams and jellies.

Her loving family includes , daughter, Connie (Marvin) Wolf, Velva; sons, William (Marilynn) Neustel and Robert (Deloris) Neustel, both of Branson, MO; grandchildren, William Neustel Jr., Jay Neustel, Gregory (Kathy) Reynar, Brian (DeAnna) Hickey, Barbara Collins, Howard Neustel, Jeremiah Wolf, Joshua (Denise) Wolf, Jody Donald, Joanna (Kaylon) Faul, Josiah (Michelle) Wolf, Jedidiah Wolf, Kelly (Liz) Neustel, Fredrick Neustel, Dennis Neustel Jr. (Kathy), and Shawn (Darla) Neustel; great-grandchildren; Rebecca & Wylie W. Neustel, Jamie Reynar, Brianna & Brandon Hickey, Joseph Guerra, Victoria, Haley & Bobbie Neustel, Isaiah & Taylor Peterson, Megan, Natalee & Kelsea Opperudd, Jordan & Jarred Donald, Kaylon Jr., Karter, Kasey, Karson Faul, Molly, Dennis III & Adam Neustel, Madison Hagen, Trystin Neustel & Abigail Hagen; great-great-grandchild, Leslee Kay Gustafsson; sister-in-law, Doris Wichael, Breckenridge, MN, along with several nieces nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; son, Dennis; sisters, Georgia & Reba; brothers, Wylie and Albert and two infant brothers.

Graveside Service : Friday, October12, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Rural Robinson, ND.
Visitation : Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and Friday, October 12th from 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. in the Tuttle United Methodist Church.
