Obituary

Mary Margaret Louise "Dude" Herman , 75, 900 33rd Ave. S.W. #24 - Minot and formerly of Kenmare, Berthold and Newburg died on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in a Minot hospital.

Mary was born on December 7, 1930 in Kenmare, North Dakota to Raymond and Pearl (Modin) Cain. She was raised and educated in Newburg, Minot and Berthold prior to graduating from Berthold High School in 1948. As a young adult she was employed as a switchboard operator at the Leland Parker Hotel and Bell Telephone in Minot. Mary was once married to Don Olson for twenty-one years and they made their home in Minot. They especially enjoyed spending summer weekends at Strawberry Lake. She moved to St. Paul MN in 1972 and married Owen Herman on March 27, 1975 in Brooklyn Center, MN. They made their home there until 1980 when they moved to Big Stone City, SD. They resided in Lake Placid, FL during the winter months. Owen died on July 22, 1995. Mary moved to Minot in 1996 and had resided at the Speedway until June of 2004 when she moved to her apartment in Minot.

Mary enjoyed gardening in her earlier years and especially enjoyed trips to her favorite casinos.

Her loving family includes her daughter Mary Jo (Howie) Sulland of Brooklyn Park MN; granddaughters: Marie and Dawn Sulland both of Brooklyn Park; sister: Joyce Vold of Minot; step grandchildren: Sherri Fadden, Colette Tengwall, Craig, Lon and Owen Herman Jr. as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Susan, son: Scott and granddaughter: Mona Rae.

Funeral Service: Monday, October 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis. MN.
Visitation: Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Congregational Church organ fund or the ND School for the Deaf.
