Mary Teresa LaBounty, 92, Minot, formerly of Noonan, ND, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Mary was born August 24, 1918 at Pasaic, New Jersey, the daughter of George and Anna (Karbarska) Szczur. She moved with her family to Noonan, North Dakota at an early age, where she was raised and educated. Following her education, she assisted with the operation of the family farm near Noonan.

Mary was united in marriage to Alfred LaBounty on January 16, 1956 at Noonan. They moved to Clyde, Kansas, where they lived for many years, until moving to Minot in 1991. She was employed in Minot as a waitress for several years at the American Cafe. Alfred died March 31, 1997.

Mary was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

She enjoyed baking, cooking and was very mechanically inclined, primarily as a proud welder.

Her loving family includes: sister, Charlotte (Charles) Miller, Minot, brother, Julian Szczur, Wahpeton, ND; several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Walter, sister, Josephine and sister-in-law, Florence Szczur & brother-in-law, Robert Schmit .

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:30a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Intermen t: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00-7:00p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials to the Salvation Army or an organization of the donor's choice.
