Obituary

Mary Jane Anderson, 87, Minot, died on Monday, October 14, 2013 in a Minot hospital.

Mary Jane was born on March 1, 1926 in Billings, MT, to Ferdinand and Helen (Cathro) Beyer. She was reared and educated in Minot, baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, graduated from Minot High School in 1944 and from Minot State Teachers College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education. She taught at Sherwood High School from 1948 to 1950.

Mary Jane married John S. Anderson Jr. on August 25, 1948 in First Lutheran Church - Minot. They made their home in Sherwood and Bottineau where they were teachers prior to moving to Minot where she was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker prior to being employed as the Periodicals Librarian in the Gordon Olson Library at Minot State University from 1973-1983. John was a longtime Minot math teacher. The Anderson family enjoyed many good times at Lake Metigoshe during the summer months. Most recently, Mary Jane had resided at Edgewood Vista. John died on August 8, 2012.

Mary Jane was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Minot and was a Past-President of the Trinity Hospital Auxiliary where she had volunteered for more than 1000 hours. She was a proud member of the PEO Chapter G & AV and was a Bethel Bible Series Teacher at First Lutheran Church in Minot. Mary Jane especially enjoyed needle point, reading, and puzzles.

Mary Jane is survived by her sons: John F. (Mary) Anderson of Ft. Bragg, CA; Robert (Elaine) Anderson of Victor, ID; and Thomas (Jayne) Anderson of Crookston, MN; grandchildren: Melissa Jo (Brett) Bowers; Amber, Elizabeth, Erika, Matthew, Jonathan, Kimberly, and Stacy Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Robert William Beyer and Frederick Charles Beyer.

Celebration of the Life of Mary Jane Anderson: Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery - Minot
Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred to Metigoshe Ministries, Bottineau, First Lutheran Church Music Ministry Fund, Minot, or an organization of the donor's choice.
