Obituary

Mary Ann Mathilda Houim, 72, Tioga and formerly of Velva and Egeland died on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in a Minot hospital from an apparent heart attack.

Mary Ann was born on April 22, 1941 in Newville, ND to Edwin and Rose (Roles) Meyer. She was reared on a farm near Egeland, attended school in Egeland, and graduated from Egeland High School in 1959.

Mary Ann married Delmer Houim on January 5, 1960 in Cando. They made their home in Bisbee as well as several other communities in North Dakota and Minnesota where she was employed as a nurses aid and in road construction. They resided in Velva for ten years and then moved to Tioga in June of 2013 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Mary Ann was an excellent cook and loved to play cards and games especially pinochle, dominoes and spicy farkle with family and friends.

Mary Ann's loving family includes her husband of 54 years Delmer; children: Kathleen "Kat" Lang and Karen (Curt) Kittelson all of Velva; Delmer Jr. (Annette) Houim and Danny Houim all of Tioga; grandchildren: Heather (Nick) Johnson, J.R. Price, Jerald Lang Jr., Heather Sours, Sarah Pottorff, Bob Cox, Anne Verseman, Jasmine (Clinton) Collins, Roxanne and Brandy Houim, Gayle (Perry) Lanier, Trevor Bolas, Austyn Kittelson, Collin Kittelson, Adrianna Kittelson; great grandchildren: Liam and Noah Johnson, Jack Tomlinson, Casey, Shelby, and Lance Nicholas, Erin, Kyle and Kindra Burton, James Cox, Triston and Hayle Verseman, Akeelah Collins, David and Patrick Lanier; siblings: Janice (Larry) Gores of Bisbee and Kenneth (Linda) Meyer of Bottineau and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Sherry Schuyler, siblings: Eugene Meyer and Kathleen Meyer.

Celebration of the Life of Mary Ann Houim: Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Oak Valley Lutheran Church Velva.
Interment arrangements are pending.
Visitation: Saturday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
