Mary Hoffer, 87, Minot, and formerly of McClusky, passed away peacefully into her Savior's arms with her family by her side on January 20, 2014.
Mary was born June 27, 1926, in McClusky, North Dakota to Jacob and Katherine (Bentz) Grosz. She was reared and educated in McClusky.
Mary married Martin Hoffer on July 9, 1945 in McClusky. They made their home on the family farm one mile east of McClusky. Mary assisted with the farming duties in addition to caring for her young family. They moved their family to Minot in 1961. Mary was a sales clerk in the housewares department at Home of Economy for 22 years, retiring in 1988. Martin passed away on February 10, 2002.
Mary was a member of the West Minot Church of God, Moose Lodge and Senior Citizens. Mary loved to dance, enjoyed flowers, visiting on the phone, and baking. Mary was well known for her Kuchen and Meringue pies. Her number one passion was her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
Mary's family would like to thank Dr. Charles Swenson and Trinity's home health/hospice for their excellent care and concern.
Mary's loving family includes her children, Lonnie Hoffer (special friend Liana Duttenhefer) Bismarck, Bernadyne (Ed) Zablotney, Makoti, Barry (Susan) Hoffer, Minot and Karla (Doug) Ritzke, Minot; special friend and companion: Ray Bushnell, Minot; grandchildren, Jodi Hoffer (fiance John Boehm), Traci, Chris (Dottie) Zablotney, Nicole (Jamie) Johansen, Rachie and HayLee Ritzke and Mason and Hayden Hoffer; great-grandchildren, Ashley (John) Pitsiladis, Christopher Hoffer, Cole, Ethan and Kaylee Zablotney, Alyssa, Morgan and Emily Johansen; great-great grandson, Kayson Pitsiladis; brothers, Herbert (Helen) Grosz, McClusky and Alfred (Sharon) Grosz, Minot; sister, Ardella (Don) McCloud, Bismarck; brother-in-law, Melvin Jesz, Coshocton, OH; special caregivers, Carol and Alan Becker, Minot and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Martin, daughter-in-law, Jen Hoffer and sister, Violet Jesz.
Celebration of the Life of Mary Hoffer: Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at West Minot Church of God.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
