Obituary

Mary Jane Grueneberg, 80, Minot and formerly of Deering died on Monday, June 28, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Mary was born on April 25, 1930 in Minot to Thomas and Margaret (Duhamel) Coate. She was reared in Minot and in Seattle for a short time. She was Baptized in May of 1930 at St. Leo's Catholic Church - Minot and Confirmed on May 1, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot following adult instruction. Mary married Leo Grueneberg on June 15, 1949 at Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Minot. They made their home on a farm north of Minot for seven years before moving to a farm near Deering. They lived there for six years before moving to Minot in 1963 where Leo was employed at Bridgeman Creamery for many years and Mary was self-employed as a piano teacher. They had resided at 1020 1st St. N.E. for many years prior to moving to Trinity Homes in 2007. Leo died on January 26, 2008.

Mary was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot and its LWML and was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church - rural Upham. She was a member of the Deering Homemakers Club. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, especially fishing trips with Leo and served as a substitute organist at St. Paul's for several years.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers: Thomas, Marlin, Edwin and Robert Coate.

Funeral Service: Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation:
Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
