Mary Lou Esterby, 71, Minot, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side.
Mary Lou was born July 20, 1938 to Reuben and Evva (Barden) Olson in Minot, North Dakota. Throughout her youth, she attended Minot schools. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Esterby on November 1, 1955 in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where she raised their five children and was involved with their school activities and sporting events throughout the years.
Mary Lou spent her life caring for others. She had a children's daycare in her home and later worked for the Good Shepherd Daycare. She later became a home health caregiver, where she spent many years caring for "her ladies" . She loved doing things for others. She was always there with a smile and a helping hand. Mary Lou loved to visit on the phone with "sister" and many close friends. She will be missed by all of those whose lives she touched.
Her loving family includes : husband of 54 years, Robert Esterby; daughter, Eva Butterfield; sons, Ron Esterby, Paul Esterby, Eric Esterby, all of Minot, ND, and Matt (Kersten) Esterby, Fargo, ND; two granddaughters, Amanda Kelley, Kalamazoo, MI, Madeline Esterby, Fargo, ND; four great-grandchildren, Terrehl, Tierra, Simone, and Shawn Kelly, Kalamazoo, MI; sisters, Betty (Hank) Anderson, Minot, ND and Doretta Johnson, California, several nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Nick Olson, Bob Olson, and Jim Olson.
The family would like to extend a warm felt thank you to Kristel and the wonderful staff of Trinity Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral service
: Friday, February 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Visitation
: At her request, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Thursday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
