Obituary

Mary Lou Clark , 86, Minot formerly of Des Lacs and rural Powers Lake, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 in a Minot hospital.

Mary Lou was born on March 27, 1929 to William Kennedy and Josephine "Jiggs" Owens in Minnesota Township of Burke County near Bowbells, North Dakota. The family moved to Bowbells, ND in 1935 where she was reared and educated. She graduated from Bowbells High School in 1947. While in high school she was employed by the Bowbells Telephone Company and after graduation taught country school in Minnesota Township for one year. She later worked at the Burke County Court House where she met her future husband.

Mary Lou was married to Robert W. Clark on November 30, 1951 in Minot. They had one daughter, Shelley. They made their home on the farm in Lucy Township of Burke County between Powers Lake and Lignite, ND where they lived for over forty years. After retiring they moved to Des Lacs, ND in 1991. Robert died on January 24, 2006. Mary Lou continued to live in Des Lacs until moving into Minot in 2013.

Mary Lou enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, e-mailing and sewing. In 2010 Mary Lou took her daughter Shelley and granddaughter Amy on the trip of her lifetime to Ireland. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary both in Powers Lake.

Mary Lou's loving family includes: daughter: Shelley (Stan) Opland, Des Lacs; grandchildren: Amy (Daniel) Lewis, Burlington and Adam Opland, Des Lacs and numerous cousins.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert.

Celebration of the Life of Mary Lou Clark: Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Rose Valley Lutheran Church, rural Des Lacs.
Interment: Rose Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Des Lacs, ND.
Visitation: Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Camp of the Cross Ministries building fund. Make checks to: "Building on the Shores of Faith" Garrison, ND.
