Mary Ardith "Ardy" Coffin, 74, Minot passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a determined battle with cancer.
Ardith was born on February 13, 1935 in Granville, ND to Melvin and Mary (Harmon) Evenson. She was reared in Minot where she graduated from Minot High School in 1953.
Ardith married Sid Coffin on July 2, 1955 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she was employed at Montgomery Wards, St. Croix Motors, Galvin Manufacturing and Hickory Farms. In addition, she was the bookkeeper for Coffin and Ostdahl Painting and Decorating for many years.
Ardith was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed baking, gardening, canning her summer harvest, traveling in their motor home and spending time with family especially at their lake home "Coffin's Cottage" at hideaway point, Lake Sakakawea. Her grandchild where very fond of her fish fry's and homemade ice cream.
Ardith's loving family includes her husband of 54 years: Sid; children: Valerie (Brad) Wells, Cynthia (Steve) Beutler, Steve (Rini) Coffin and Jim (Sue) Coffin, all of Minot; grandchildren: Jason, Joey and Bethany Bratvold; Ashley, Stacey, Katie and Michael Coffin; step grandchildren: Brannon, Tanner and Cullen Wells; great grandchildren: Hannah Galegher, Dylan and Ethan McCall and Quinlan Wells; sister: Melvyce Westphal of Manhattan, Montana and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ardith was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Judy Amundson and Lehre Evenson.
Funeral Service:
Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church or to the Camp of the Cross - Garrison.
