Marvin D. Zimbelman, 65, Towner, formerly of New Leipzig, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 in a New Rockford nursing home.

Marvin was born September 17, 1953 in Elgin, ND to Reinhold and Anna (Bierwagon) Zimbelman. He attended school in New Leipzig and assisted his family on the farm.

As a young man, he moved to Oklahoma and found work in the oil field and construction industries. He moved to Iowa where he was employed at a retirement center prior to returning to ND in 1991 to care for his mother.

Marvin was once united in marriage to Melanie Woodall for 21 years. This union was blessed with three children, Miranda, Anthony and Andrew.

He resided in Towner and spent the latter years of his life working on his ranch and often spent sale days in Minot working at the sale barn.

Marvin served on the Riga Township Board of McHenry County for many years and spent many years playing in the LaFlauer Pool League. He loved ranching and spent the fall each year chasing roosters and looking in each set of cattails for that big whitetail buck.

Marvin will be missed for his joking ways and will be missed by all who shared in his life.

Marvin is survived by his son, Anthony (Breana) Zimbelman, Granville, ND; daughter, Sara (Michael Rogers) Persons, North Liberty, Iowa; grandson, Winston Rogers; sisters, Anna (John) Lesser, Salem, OR and Darlene (Albert) Frey, Mott, ND; brothers, Darvin (Carol) Zimbelman and Arvin Zimbelman, Gillette, WY; former wife Melanie (Alan) Elverud, Leeds, ND along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, former sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Marvin was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, daughter, Miranda Woodall, son, Andrew Zimbelman and brother, Emil Zimbelman.

Celebration of Marvin's Life:  1:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service.
