Marvin 'Marv' W. Pfenning, 86, Minot, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in a Minot hospital.

Marvin was born July 9, 1934 near Golden Valley, ND to Albert and Ethel (Kraft) Pfenning. He was raised in Golden Valley and graduated from Golden Valley High School in 1953. His education journey made stops at Northwest Bible College in Minot, Northwest Telegraph School in Minneapolis, MN and Minot Business College.

Marv was united in marriage to Perscilla Peterson on August 29, 1958 in Minot. They made their home in Minot and were blessed with two children.

The construction industry filled Marv's early working years. He was part of the Garrison Diversion Project and the building of the Minot Air Force Base. He secured a job as an accountant for Westland Oil in 1960. He held this position until 1968 when he joined Central Power in Minot. In addition to his fulltime job, he also maintained farming interests in Tagus, ND during his active years. After 29 years of faithful and dedicated service, he retired from Central Power in 1997.

Marv was a former member of First Assembly of God where he was active on the church board for many years, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and the Church Secretary/Treasurer. He served on the Young at Heart (55+ Senior Group), ND Camp and Keen Camp Committees and sang with many church groups over the years. He assisted with numerous church building projects in Montana, South Dakota and Minnesota over the years. Marv attended First Baptist Church remaining a faithful servant his entire life.

Marv was a member of the Minot Exchange Club for 27 years serving as President and Secretary during his membership. In 1987, he was awarded the 'Book of Golden Deeds' in recognition for his betterment of the community of Minot. He served on the Youth for Christ Board for six years and along with his wife Percy, were foster parents for sixteen years. Percy died November 28, 2020.

When he found the time, Marv enjoyed a sunny afternoon on his boat with a fishing pole in his hand or sharing a cup of coffee and conversation with a friend. He valued time spent with his family and was proud of all their accomplishments.

His loving family includes children, Lynn (Pace) Pfenning, Andover, MN and Jenean (Doni) Jessen, Minot; grandchildren, Kjersten (Marcus) Refsland, Taylor (Kim) Pfenning, Mallory (Luke) Lendl, Dan Maroney, Levi Jessen, Tanner Jessen and Emanuel Charging; great grandchildren Ryder, Adelyn, Libby, Braye, Trygg, Greta, Emmett and Mylee Jessen; sister Eunice Huber, Hebron, ND along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents, wife Perscilla 'Percy', brother Delvin, sister Juanita Pfieffer and brothers-in-law Walter Huber and Brian Pfieffer.

Public Visitation : Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
