Marvin Gene Gunderson, 69, Minot and longtime Wal Mart greeter, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 in a Minneapolis hospital.

Marvin was born April 4, 1943 in Shelby, MT to Martin and Bertha (Tuttle) Gunderson. He was raised and educated in Shelby, MT, graduated from Shelby High School and attended college prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Following his honorable discharge, Marvin resided in Eugene, Oregon prior to marrying Donna Slead on August 15, 1971 in Roseburg, Orregon. They made their home in Minot where he had been employed for the past twenty-eight years as a greeter at Wal Mart after he was the third person hired in Minot by that store. He loved his job and the people with whom he worked. Most recently, he had resided at the Milton Young Towers.

Marvin's loving family includes his wife of 41 years Donna; son, Jason Gunderson, Minot; sister, Linda Vancleve, Eugene, OR; brother, Richard Gunderson, Oshkosh, WI; grandson, Christian Gunderson, Minot; granddaughters, Tianna Gunderson, Minot and Desari Gunderson, Austin, TX; niece, Julie Steen, Klamath Falls, OR; nephew, Steve Gunderson, Shelby MT; and brother-in-law, Dave Jarrard, Idaho.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delmar Gunderson.
