Obituary

Marvin Tobias Guenthner , 85, Minot, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in a Minot Hospital.

Marvin was born February 1, 1930 at Hazen, North Dakota the son of Adam and Emma (Isaak) Guenthner. He was raised on a farm north of Hazen and attended country schools in that area.

Marvin was united in marriage to Gladys Krukenberg on November 17, 1950 at Hazen. They moved to a farmstead in Mercer County where they farmed for several years and Marvin was employed at the Garrison Dam until 1955. They moved to Hazen, while he continued his work at the Dam and with the Northern Pacific Railroad for a short time.

In 1956, Marvin began employment at the Minot Air Force Base and he moved the family to Minot in 1958. In addition to working at the Base, he drove Minot City buses and School buses for Arnold Lucht. In 1962, he began employment at Farmers Union Federated as a truck driver. He worked in that capacity until retiring in 1989. Following his retirement, he drove bus for the City of Minot and Minot Schools. He also worked at Bethke Gardens & Artistic Ambiance as a floral delivery person and for National Car Rental for several years.

Marvin was a member of St Mark's Lutheran Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis and served on the AAL Board of Directors. He volunteered for the Minot Commission on Aging delivering meals on wheels.

Marvin is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Gladys; son, Brett Guenthner, Denver, CO; grandchildren, Adam and Jordan Guenthner; brother, Max (Margie) Guenthner, Underwood, ND, sisters, Evelyn (Melvin) Weidrich, Alhambra, CA and Dorothy Bauer, Covina, CA; sister in law, Mae Guenthner, Silverton, ID; several nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Florence, and Bernice and brothers, Paul and Luther.

Funeral service : Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment : Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
The family prefers memorials to St Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
