Marvin "Deac" Delker, 80, Minot, died August 7, 2009 after several years of living with COPD.
Deac was born January 16, 1929 in Faith, South Dakota. He was raised in Worland, WY until he entered the US Air Force in 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars he retired honorably after 20 years of service. After retiring from the US Air Force at a young age, Deac went back to school for Data Processing and had a second career at the Bank of Utah.
Deac met the love of his life, Mary Carlson, and married her on March 6, 1956. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Mary passed away just before their 50th wedding anniversary, Deac missed her deeply.
Deac and Mary made their home and raised their family in Layton, UT. During their retirement years Deac and Mary traveled to warmer climates during the winter in their motor home and finally had a permanent home in Casa Grande, AZ. They had a place in Diamond Lake, WA during the summer where they enjoyed many evenings fishing. They also enjoyed several cruises with family and friends and traveling during the summer visiting family and friends around the US. Deac moved to Minot in 2007 to be closer to family, he resided at Edgewood Vista.
Deac always enjoyed a good book or a good game of dominos.
Survivors: sons, Leon "Curly" Delker (Cindy Snay), Minot, John (Karrie) Delker, Mandan, ND, Gregory Delker, Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Teresa Messersmith, Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Christopher Delker (Terri Rice), Minot, Nichole (Rob) Hadley, Oregon, Jacob Delker (Alison Burbidge), Utah, Jason Delker, Minot, Trenton Delker, Kristen Delker, Bismarck, ND, Harlee Delker, Myrtle Beach, SC, Spencer (Tiffany) Messersmith, Mathew Messersmith, Preston Messersmith, Salt Lake City, UT; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Denelda Brill, Mirian (Ted) Lohrer, Cody, WY, Libbie (Chuck) Wilkie, Worland, WY, brothers, Clarence (Ruth) Delker, Palermo, CA, Leeland Delker, Worland, WY and many other relatives.
Deac is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Delker, father, Jacob Delker, mother, Matilda Delker, and mother-in-law, Elisabeth Kryns, and sisters Vera Meyer and Francis Clark and extended family members.
A private family service will be held in September 2009.
Interment: Spokane, Washington.
At the request of the family, there will not be any public visitation.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to a memorial fund of your choice.
