Marty Ray Beck , 49, rural Sawyer, died on Friday, November 17, 2017 in the home of his parents surrounded by family. He endured with grace 13 months of metastatic kidney cancer complicated by injuries from a deer-dirt bike collision.
Marty was born August 29, 1968 in Minot to George and Doris (Neufeld) Beck. He was reared on the family farm north of Sawyer and attended school in Sawyer. He graduated from Sawyer High School in 1987 and received his AAS Degree in Power Plant Technology from Bismarck State College in 1995. Marty was a 20-year employee of the ADM Processing Plant near Velva. Ill health forced his retirement on June 27, 2017.
Marty enjoyed playing and building guitars, building and racing go-carts and riding motorcycles. Also, Marty was an animal lover and took great pride in planting and nurturing the trees in his yard.
Marty was a member of Bible Fellowship Church where he could often be found in the sound booth. Marty expressed his trust in Jesus by being baptized on October 2, 2005.
Marty's loving family includes his parents; siblings: Chuck (Joette) Beck of Minot, Jeff (Shannon) Beck of Sawyer and Terry Beck of Minot; nieces: Heidi Marshall, Greta Beck and Madison Burtch; aunts and uncles: Richard (Virginia) Neufeld, Bob (Betty) Neufeld, Evelyn Ironhawk, Ruth (Jim) Doak, Doris Ollenburger, Al (Mary) Beck, Lorene (Bob) Hammerschmidt and Grace (Joey) Vogt and numerous cousins.
Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents: Peter and Emma Neufeld and Albert and Martha Beck as well as his aunts: Karen Brooks, Alma Lutes, Ruth Brooks and Irene Potts.
Celebration of the Life of Marty Beck: Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Redeemers Church with Pastor Duane Deckert officiating.
Interment: Mennonite Brethren Cemetery - rural Sawyer.
Visitation: Friday from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Bible Fellowship Church or the donor's choice.
