Obituary

Marlys Helen Leet, 86, Devils Lake, ND and formerly of Kenmare and Minot, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 1, 2010 in the Devils Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Marlys was born February 13, 1923 in Burke County, ND, the daughter of Otto and Ruby (Hjort) Nelson. She was raised and educated at Kenmare, where she graduated from High School in 1940. After attending Minot Business College in 1942, she became employed at the Kenmare Deaconess Hospital as a bookkeeper.

Marlys was united in marriage to Glen Leet on October 25, 1944. They made their home in Minot, where she worked as the office secretary for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW) for fifteen years until she retired in 1985. Glen died in 1986.

Marlys was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was active with the Sunday school programs, Women's programs, and served the Church as pianist for a number of years. Most recently she had attended First Baptist Church in Minot, where she was actively involved with the XYZ Senior group, Awana Ministry, White Cross, Women's Bible Study groups and often served as greeter on Sunday mornings prior services.

Marlys had a heart for encouraging people throughout her lifetime. She even continued this while she was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Devils Lake, which she entered in July of 2009. She supported her family, friends, relatives and church with fervent prayer. Her passion for studying God's word was very evident in her life. Her example as a Godly wife and mother has left an impact on her family.

Her loving family includes : Daughters, Linda (Larry) Cutlan, Manitowoc, WI, Nancy (David) Harvey, Shady Spring, WV, Joyce (Garth) Ford, Webster, ND; Seven Grandchildren: Robert Cutlan, Green Bay, WI, Timothy Cutlan, Peach Bottom, PA, Jonathan Cutlan, Houston, TX, Jennifer Cutlan, Gurnee, IL, Joanna (Harvey) Laws, Beckley, WV, Joshua Harvey, Cool Ridge, WV, Andrew Harvey, Shady Spring, WV; seven Great-Grandchildren.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Maude Nelson, husband, brother, LeRoy Nelson and sister, Carol Skalman.

Funeral service : Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation
: Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In Lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
