Marlys was born on April 24, 1941, in Devils Lake, ND to Curtis and Hazel (Hagen) Bremseth.  She was raised in Devils Lake, except for one year when the family lived in Bottineau.  Marlys graduated from Devils Lake Central High School, and as a young adult she was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers in Riverdale for one and a half years.

Marlys married Barry Ingerson on December 28, 1959, in Devils Lake.  The family moved to Minot in October of 1961, and Marlys was employed as a secretary until October of 1966, when she became a fulltime mother and homemaker.  Barry died on December 28, 2009.  Most recently Marlys had been residing at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.

Marlys was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church and the Christian Women's organization in Minot.  She especially enjoyed sewing, reading, crafts, meeting new people, Bible studies, feeding and watching birds, baking, and yard work (planting trees, shrubs, and flowers).  She also enjoyed watching old time movies, listening to country music, chocolate, a hot cup of green tea, and fun times with family (especially vacations).
