Marlyn Sailer, 73, of Minot passed away October 28, 2019 in his home, with family by his side, under the care of hospice.
Marlyn Gene Sailer was born October 4, 1946 in Hazen, ND to Ruben and Ella (Link) Sailer. The family resided in Stanton, ND for several years prior to moving to Minot in 1956. Following graduation from Minot High School in 1965, Marlyn was drafted and proudly served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and served as a Transportation Specialist. Marlyn began working in high school at the local Red Owl grocery store in Minot and continued his employment for 20 plus years following his return from the Army.
Marlyn was married to Marilyn Lande from 1969-1998 and they were blessed with three boys; Brian, Brent and Brock. In 1980, the family purchased the Ranger Lounge in Minot which Marlyn operated until retiring from the bar business after 31 years.
Marlyn enjoyed hunting and fishing, was active in dart and bowling leagues in his younger years, and was a champion chili maker many times over. His favorite trip was a fishing trip to Alaska with his brothers and his boys. Recently, he enjoyed many scenic drives in the country followed by an ice cream cone before heading home. He enjoyed meeting friends for his morning coffee and opened his home to many friends over the years. He was a member of several fraternal organizations and donated to numerous charities.
Marlyn is survived by his children: Brian Sailer of Garrison, Brent (Sheryl) Sailer of Bismarck and Brock Sailer of Williston; grandchildren: Gavyn, Gryffen, Aiden and Walter; siblings: Marlene (LeRoy) Schoffstall of Minot, Larry (Beverly) of Bismarck, David (Colleen) of Alexandria, MN, and Jeffrey (LeAnn Buettner) of Minot; longtime friend: Georgette Pratt; special friend: Meichell Krumm and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service: Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church-Minot.
Graveside Service: Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Stanton.
Visitation: Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home-Minot.
Memorials are preferred.
