Marlowe was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church and Hartland Lutheran Church, serving on the council. He was active in the community with service to the Carpio Township Board and Hartland School Board. He was a member of the Farmers Union in Carpio and Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie in Minot.

He loved reading his extensive collection of Louis L'Amour books in addition to his life-long hobby of farming. He also enjoyed playing darts at the Moose Lodge, playing cards and visiting friends, where he always had time for coffee. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.
