Obituary

Marlene Maynard, 75, Minot and formerly of Donnybrook and Thief River Falls, MN died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in a Minot hospital from complications related to a stroke that occurred on December 6, 2009.

Marlene was born on September 5, 1934 in Aurelia, ND to Gordon and Maybelle (Perron) Lawson. She was reared on the family farm in Carbondale Township of Ward County prior to moving with her family into Donnybrook where she attended school and graduated as an honor student from Donnybrook High School.

Marlene married Douglas Maynard on October 21, 1952 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Donnybrook. They made their home in Donnybrook and farmed in Carbondale and Greenbush Townships. They moved to the Thief River Falls, MN area in 1971 where they farmed. They moved to Minot in 2006.

Marlene was a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She especially enjoyed crafts, gardening, traveling, "collecting" and being with family and friends.

Marlene's loving family includes her husband of 57 years Douglas, children: Rita (Bob) Snell of Grand Rapids, MN, Ron (Jackie) Maynard of Rosebud, TX and Patti (Jerry) LaCoe of Thief River Falls, MN; grandsons: Jake, Pat and Chris; step grandson: Jeremy La Coe; great grandsons: Izak and Kayden; sisters: Dorene (Larry) Wilson of Great Falls, MT, Betty Spaulding of Minot, Peggy Bell of Sterling CO and Madonna Ennis of Williston; brothers: Curtis (Cathy) Lawson of Donnybrook and Jack (Tillie) Lawson of Minot and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: James "Buzz", Gene and Gordon Jr. "Snooky" Lawson.

Funeral Service: Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the American Stroke Association.
