Obituary

Mark David Seier, 60, Thornton, CO and formerly of Minot died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in his home with his loving family at his side.

Mark was born on February 14, 1952 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Vivian (Hagen) Seier. He moved with his family to Minot in 1954 where he was raised and educated and graduated from Minot High School in 1970.

He started working for the Burlington Northern Railroad (now Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad) in 1970. His career began in the track department before he was transferred to the operating department in 1972 where he remained until his retirement 40 years later in 2012.

Mark married Phyllis Roneker on April 14, 1980 in Minot. They had made their home in Minot prior to Mark's retirement when they moved to Thornton CO in June of 2012 to be near their grandson Tucker.

Mark was a member of the United Transportation Union his entire career. He loved all things golf. playing, watching it on tv, reading books and magazines about golf. Also, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling. He was proud of his huge vegetable garden and the most well manicured lawn in the county. He was an excellent cook and did all the cooking in the 32 years he was married. In addition he loved the mountains and Disney/Pixar movies, but his greatest joy was his precious grandson Tucker.

Mark's loving family includes his wife of 32 years Phyllis - 3880 East 128th Way - Thornton CO 80241; children: Emily Seier (Daniel Seelbinder) of Thornton CO and Benjamin Seier of Minot; grandson: Tucker Seelbinder of Thornton CO; mother: Vivian Seier of Minot; brothers: Jeff Seier and John (Julie) Seier both of Minot; niece and nephews: Andrew, Katie and Lucas Seier and several cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Charles Seier and grandparents: Ole and Olga Hagen and Peder and Tillie Seier.

Celebration of the Life of Mark Seier: Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
Visitation: Friday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
