Mark Steven Hanson aka Mark Ess, 63, of Velva and longtime Minot TV weatherman and radio broadcaster died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 in a Fargo hospital.
Mark was born on December 18, 1949 in Ada MN to Mayo and Eleanore (Krogstad) Hanson. He was reared and educated in Stanley, ND and graduated from Wahpeton High School. Following his education he served in the U.S. Army. Mark lived in Minot for many years and was employed as a radio broadcaster for KCJB and Clear Channel radio and as a TV weatherman for KXMC TV. Most recently, he had been living in Velva.
Mark is survived by his sister: Alecia "Lesa" Campbell and brother: Dana Hanson, two nieces and several cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Gathering:
Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moose Lodge. (Potluck)
Interment
will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
Visitation
took place on Tuesday at the Thomas Family Funeral Home.
