Marjorie Fruh , 92, Minot, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in a Minot hospital.
Marjorie was born September 3, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN to Lee Lester and Susie Helen (Larson) Bright. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1938. She attended Minot Business School and Minot State University. For six years, Marjorie attended evening art classes under the Minot Recreation Commission. On July 30, 1939, she married Alfred M. Fruh, Jr. in Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. He died in 1997.
Marjorie worked at John Iverson Co. and Minot Grocery of Nash Finch during World War II. More recently in 1967, she worked at Trinity Medical Center for 17 years as bookkeeper. The last seven years, she was employed as the Gift Shops Manager. Marjorie retired in 1984.
Marjorie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, where she did volunteer work and with the Minot Art Association. After retirement, she worked with the Senior Companion Program of Lutheran Social Services and also with the Minot Social Services as a companion for older people.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Steven (Margaret) Fruh of Minot; daughter, Diane (Michael) Knoll of Marana AZ; five grandchildren, Meri Johnson of Nashville TN, Darin (Marie) Fruh of Cedar Rapids IA, Jodi(Stephen) Krueger of Iowa City IA, Chris (Michelle)Knoll of Lakeville MN & Rikka Knoll (Jason Burroughs) of Cedar Rapids IA; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John (Ellen) Bright ; sisters, Lorraine (Harold) Schmidt and Doris ("Bud") Clark.
Funeral Service:
Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Monday, May 27th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church or the Trinity Ladies Auxiliary, both of Minot.
