Marion (Bivins) Narum , 89, Douglas, ND passed away August 30, 2025 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison.
Marion was born on February 25, 1936 to Donald and Marvel (Baker) Bivins in Minot, ND. She attended Grades 1-8 at a country school, went to high school in Minot and graduated in 1953. She thoroughly enjoyed the class of 1953 luncheons and reunions. She stayed with relatives while attending high school. She continued her education for one semester at Yankton College in Yankton, SD, and attended Minot Business College earning a secretarial degree in 1955. Marion received the award of Outstanding Student in 1955. She was the secretary at Minot Business College from 1954-1956 and worked at Frosaker Motor (Chevy) for part of high school training.
Marion met Nels Narum at a Farmers Union dance November of 1955. They had a whirlwind romance and were married June 17, 1956 at the Congregational Church in Minot. They were blessed with 3 children: Peggy, DeAnne, and Gary. They farmed south of Douglas. Marion helped with whatever she could on the farm, especially during harvest hauling grain.
Marion followed her children's and grandchildren's activities throughout their school years. She was involved in the Garrison Band Mothers, which helped raise funds and travelled all over. She was also a 4-H leader and a member of Douglas Nifty Fiftys.
Marion was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Douglas. She served as Treasurer for 5 years and helped with Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a member of Ladies Aid holding many offices throughout the years. She participated in the mission quilting group for many years. Her job was to stitch around the quilts. Marion was organist for 60 years.
Marion is survived by her daughters Peggy Moran, Washburn and DeAnne (Robert) Finken, Douglas, and son Gary (Christie) Narum, Douglas; grandchildren Danika (Ben) Smith, Camden (Jenna) Moran, Tracy (Dustin) Stangeland, Holly (Chris) Sobieck, Katie Finken, Dylan Finken, Ty (Stephanie) Heinecke, Braden Heinecke, Sadie Heinecke: 15 great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Leland, and Vale Smith; Addison, Stetson, and Emerson Moran; Cainen, Emma, Conner, and Kipten Stangeland; Gavin, Chase, Calvin, and Tessa Sobieck; and Ella Heinecke; sister-in-law Phyllis Narum, brother-in-law Gailen Narum along with many nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nels, siblings Francis (Joan) Bivins and Ronald Bivins and son-in-law DeWayne Moran.

Visitation:
Friday, September 5, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and one hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday.
Prayer Service:
7:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery or Camp of the Cross Ministries, Garrison.
