IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Kaye
Stach
October 31, 1952 – May 22, 2025
Marilyn Kaye Stach
, 72, of Minot, went to heaven on Thursday, May 22, 2025. She
peacefully passed away in a Minot nursing home with her daughters by her side.
Marilyn Johnson was born on October 31,1952 in Minot to her parents Lyle and Elaine
(Mehus) Johnson. She spent her early years attending various schools in Minot,
ultimately concluding her education at Minot High School.
Marilyn met Gerald (Gary) Stach while cruising Main Street in Minot. They were
married on July 25, 1969. They made their home in Minot where they raised two
daughters.
After her girls were school aged, she began her career at JC Penny where she was the
receptionist for more than 15 years. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in
January of 1991. She retired early due to complications from her MS.
Marilyn enjoyed being outdoors. She loved working in her garden and tending to her
flowers. She spent many hours on their fishing boat with Gary and the girls. She loved
shopping, especially around Christmas time, and she definitely spoiled those she loved.
In her later years, she enjoyed doing puzzles, word searches and coloring. She was a
regular viewer of any program on the HGTV channel and she also enjoyed watching
Nascar Races during the racing season. She was well known for her homemade
cards that she would often create and send to her family on birthdays or special
occasions.
Marilyn had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her pet cats that she had
throughout her life. What brought Marilyn the most joy in life was spending time with
her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marilyn will be remembered as being very kind, caring, strong and compassionate.
She was always grateful for what she had and she never complained. When she was
going through the toughest times of her life, she was always more worried about others
and how they were doing. Her friendly demeanor and beautiful smile lit up a room. She
will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Her loving family includes: her husband of 56 years, Gerald Stach; her daughters
Michelle (David) Goodman and Terri Stach, Minot; her grandchildren Mikaylyn (Andrew)
Heth, Minot; Erik (Savannah) Goodman, Minot; Wyatt (Payton) Goodman, Minot; her
great-grandchildren Lydia Heth, Lochlan Heth, Porter Goodman and baby girl
Goodman due in July; her sister Carolyn Vik, Langdon; her sister-in-law Marianne
(Willy) Klein; a number of nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother (Larry Johnson), her infant
twin sons, her mother-in-law and father-in-law (Evelyn and Balzar Stach), her sister-in-
law (Kathy Grina) and her brother-in-law (Robert Vik).
A private graveside service will be held by family at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter in Minot.
