Marie A. Kern , 68, Minot, died Saturday, October 6, 2018, in a Minot nursing home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with her family by her side.

Marie was born December 2, 1949 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Irene (Deutsch) Kern. She was raised in Slatington, PA and received her education at Slatington High School. Marie earned her GED later in Minot, ND.

Marie was once married to Gary Reph in Pennsylvania. They were blessed with four children. Later, Marie married Ronald Domsteen and they made their home in Minot, ND. This union was blessed with two children.

Marie was a certified nurse's aide. She held aide positions at the Americana Nursing Home and Trinity Homes for many years. Marie also performed individual care for home health patients and served clients through Kalix. She retired in 2000.

Marie was a member of the Moose Lodge, where she was active with the Women of the Moose, holding various officer positions during her membership. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to the casino, listening to Christian music along with cooking and baking.

Marie enjoyed traveling between Minot and Pennsylvania for extended stays with her family. She valued the time spent with her grandchildren and always made time for God. She will be missed deeply by all who shared in her life.

Marie is survived by her children Selena Rose of Florida, Vicki Smestad, Gary Reph II and Teresa Reph, all three of Pennsylvania, Tim (Bonnie) Domsteen, and Michelle (Marcus) Carter, both of Minot, ND; twenty-one grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Cindy Kern, Crystal Kern, George (Leoma) Kern, William (Diane) Kern and John (Judy) Kern all from Slatington, PA along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter, Laura, sisters, Rosann Frable and Lisa Thierer and brother, Robert Kern.

At Marie's request a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Friends and family are invited to sign a memorial register book and share memories on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
