Mariann Pearl Weydahl , 88, Minot and formerly of Willow City and Killdeer died on Friday, January 23, 2009 in a Minot healthcare center.
Mariann was born on March 7, 1920 in Willow City, ND to Carl and Ida (Johnson) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Willow City and graduated from Willow City High School in 1937. She continued her education at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby where she became a registered nurse in October of 1941. As a young adult she was employed at hospitals in Bemidji and Hibbing, Minnesota and Salina, Kansas.
Mariann married Earl Weydahl on October 30, 1942 in Salina Kansas where he was stationed at the Smokey Hill Air Force Base. Following his discharge in 1944, they moved to Killdeer, ND where he was employed in the banking business and she was employed as a nurse. She moved to Minot in 1968 where she was active as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Trinity Hospital.
While residing in Minot Mariann was a member of Zion Lutheran Church as well as the V.F.W. and Eagles Auxiliaries. While living in Killdeer she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she was Past Worthy Matron and served on several committees in the Grand Chapter. She was a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary Parley. She was a Cub Scout den mother in her early years.
Mariann especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.
Mariann's loving family includes her children: Gary (Kim) Weydahl of Minot and Earl Weydahl (Sam LaPoma) of Yalaha, FL; grandchildren: Eric (Marjory) Weydahl and Jennifer Bright both of Seattle; great grandson: Jake Bright; step grandchildren: Ethan and Elizabeth Howard as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mariann was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Norine Boen, Agnes Burchill, and Gladyce Madsen, brother, Andy Johnson as well as Earl Weydahl Sr.
Funeral Service:
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Visitation:
Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials:
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Hospice.
