Obituary

Marian G. Lund , 89, Minot, formerly of the Plaza area, died Sunday September 13, 2015 in a Minot Hospital.

Marian was born April 12, 1926 on the family farm south of Plaza, North Dakota, the daughter of Michael and Gunhilda (Hagen) Hirn. Her mother died when she was four years old. It was with hard work and determination that her father was able to keep the family together. She attended Wright Consolidated School for eight years, prior to graduating from Plaza High School in 1944.

Marian moved to Minot, where she was employed as a bookkeeper at First National Bank, prior to her marriage to Otto Lund on July 24, 1945 at Yuma Arizona. At the time, Otto was a flight officer in the Air Force during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge, they returned to Minot, where she worked for a time as a cashier at Ellison's Department Store. In addition to raising their three children, she also acted as an Easterling distributor, selling china and crystal. Otto died June 3, 1995. Marian had continued to live in Minot at her home on Vista Drive.

Marian and Otto were members of First Lutheran Church, Minot, until transferring their membership to Christ Lutheran when it was built. She was active throughout the years in the Church teaching Sunday and Bible School classes. She was also active with Church Circle groups and with wedding and funeral serving groups. Marian was a wonderful seamstress, sewing many beautiful items, especially her daughter, Marlene's wedding gown. She was also a member of the Minot American Legion Auxiliary and lifetime member of the Railroad NARVE organization.

Her loving family includes : twin-daughters, Karen Burke and Karla Roussel, both of Minot; grandson, David Walter, Minot along with his parents, Larry & Dianne Walter, all of Minot; sister, Frances Wold, Tacoma, WA.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto; daughter, Marlene Walter; brother, Arnold Hirn; sister, Corrine Lund; and son in law, Richard Burke.

A Private Family service will be held in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Public Visitation: Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Memorials: preferred to Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
