Marian L. Halverson, 75, Flaxton, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 in a Minot Hospital.
Marian was born March 7, 1934 in Carter Township of Burke County, North Dakota, the daughter of Marion and Gladys (Hansen) Carter. She was raised and educated in Carter Township and attended rural schools there before graduating from Flaxton High School in 1952. She taught at rural schools near Bowbells, and was employed as a waitress at the Flaxton Café for two years.
Marian was united in marriage to John Halverson on November 26, 1954 at Flaxton. They made their home in Carter Township on the Carter homestead for five years. They then moved to Flaxton in 1959, where they have since lived and raised their three children. In later years, Marian had been employed by Power Fuels Co. at Lignite as a dispatcher, and as an elder care assistant in Flaxton for several years.
Marian was a member of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Flaxton American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed mowing their yard and dancing.
Her loving family includes, husband of fifty-four years, John Halverson, Flaxton; children, Brad (Tammy) Halverson, Kenmare, Brett (Kristie Nickle) Halverson, Flaxton, Brenda (Jeff) Kalmbach, Flaxton; grandchildren: Kayla, Sarah, Cory, Courtney, Grady and Katie; great-grandchildren: MacInzee, Jarrett, Jordyn, Scylur, Deven Lee, Braden, Taelynn, Jeremiah and Kalleah; sister: Annette (Junior) Ragle, Hettinger, ND.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law: Janet and David Legler.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation or services, as her body will be donated to the University of North Dakota.
