Obituary

Marian Blott, 73, Max, formerly of Minot, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, in a Minot nursing home.

Marian was born May 23, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised and educated in St. Louis.

As a young adult, Marian began working as backup singer in the shows of Ike & Tina Turner and Jerry Lee Lewis for a number of years before shifting to the restaurant industry. She was once married a Mr. Williams. They made their home in Minot, during his time in the US Air Force.

Marian was united in marriage to Dr. Kjos, a local dentist. They made their home in Minot for a number of years until his death.

Marian moved to Canada, where she would later be united in marriage to J.W.H. Blott. They resided in Oak Lake, Manitoba, Canada for a number of years. Mr. Blott died in 1995.

Marian returned to Minot in the mid 1990's. She owned and operated the "Picnic Basket" Restaurant, located next to Corbett Field with her husband Arlen Miiller for a number of years until ill health forced her to sell the business. Her next business venture led them to begin operation of the "Animal Crackers" concession stand located inside of Animal House Bingo across from Oak Park until her retirement in 2001.

Marian and Arlen moved to Max in 2004 and resided there until she became a resident of Trinity Homes in October 2007.

Marian enjoyed traveling to Canada to spend time at her home located on Oak Lake Island Resort in Manitoba and also in Winnipeg trying out the various places of "chance" along the way. She loved animals and always cared so deeply for her dogs. Marian will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life.

Surviving family includes: Husband: Arlen Miiller, Max, ND; Daughter: Jacqueline D. Jeter, Minot, ND; Son: Thomas E. Manning, Arizona and Three Grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Dr. Kjos and JWH Blott.

Funeral: Friday, April 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Max, ND
Interment:
Max Community Cemetery, Max, ND
Visitation:
Thursday, April 23, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND
Memorials:
Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Humane Society of Minot.
