Obituary

Margaret Eva "Marge" Tryhus, 81, Minot and formerly of Silva died on Monday, January 4, 2010 in a Minot nursing home.

Margaret was born on August 29, 1928 in Silva, ND to Andrew and Margaret (Kunnanz) Bertsch. She was reared, along with her six brothers and sister, on the family farm near Silva and graduated from Silva High School. As a young adult she was employed as a waitress at several cafes in Minot including Langseth's, Woolworth's and the Grand Café.

Margaret married Clarence Tryhus on April 7, 1956 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she was employed as a waitress at the 52 Club, Tony's Tavern and later at Jake's Club in Velva. For many years, she spent a great deal of time during the summer months at the family cabin at Lake Sakakawea.

Marge was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Women of the Moose and V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Knights of Columbus. She especially enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, playing pinochle, bird and squirrel watching, crocheting baby afghans for friends and family and dancing especially to polka music. She and Clarence spent many hours in his workshop making beautiful Christmas décor items for friends and family. She was a collector of cookbooks and made cooking a priority when it came to family events and gatherings. She made wonderful sausage, tamales and enjoyed sharing her goodies with friends and family.
