Obituary

Marcus Joseph Dailey, 84, Minot, formerly of New Rockford, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in a Minot Hospital.

Joe was born June 10, 1928 at Warwick, North Dakota the son of Marcus D. and Florence (Boyle) Dailey. He was raised and educated at New Rockford and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 9, 1946. He honorably served his country until December 31, 1946.

Joe was united in marriage to Susan Zink on May 16, 1949 at Carrington. They lived in Jamestown until 1962, when they moved to Minot. Throughout the years, Joe was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad, Northwestern Bell and with SRT Communications in 1961 as the cable foreman. He retired in 1987.

Joe was a longtime member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Golden K Kiwanis and the IBEW #714. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and loved to fish with his son in Alaska.

His loving family includes, wife of 63 years, Susan Dailey, children, Joe (Paulette) Dailey, Minot, Dan (Debbie) Dailey, Anchorage, AK, Jane (David) Hammond, Marietta, PA and Patricia (Steve) McGillivray, Bismarck, ND; Nine grandchildren and Two great-grandchild.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Patrick and sister, Rita Donegan.

Mass of Christian Burial : Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation : At the request of family, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign the memorial register book on Tuesday from 2:00-5:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to Bishop Ryan High School, St. Leo's Catholic Church or an organization of the donor's choice.
